Salad – one of the few plants that do not need a lot of sunlight, high temperatures. Does it seem easy to grow it? To some extent, yes, but sometimes lettuce leaves are so bitter that they cannot be eaten.
Details
Since leafy salads are cold-resistant, they can become bitter at high temperatures. Also, the appearance of a bitter taste is affected by a large amount of ultraviolet rays, especially when the temperature is above +25 degrees and direct sunlight hits the leaves. Bitterness is a stress reaction from such a high temperature. And the salad should be watered regularly. Accordingly, we conclude: plant lettuce as early as possible, without delay, and also in an area where active sunlight does not fall. And if you have already planted, then you need to shade the area – with a special net or by stretching the canopy. It is also necessary to cut the leaves in time (about 1.5 months after planting), because the old leaves are bitter. And don't forget about watering.
