0 In 2025, many days of fasting Ukrainians will be celebrated on a new Church calendar. During this period, believers give up fun, entertainment, and consumption of certain food.

The next day – on Sunday, April 20 – Ukrainians will celebrate the Holy Resurrection (Easter or Easter). They were fixed and supplemented in the monasteries a little later – during the VI – XI centuries

in the Orthodox Church of Ukraine consider that fasting should not be encumbrance. This should be a conscious choice – a certain voluntary earthly sacrifice that is made out of love for God.

In the period of Lent, they are not advised, according to traditions and beliefs:

  • organize fun and entertainment, as well as to join such events (free time is better to spend calmly – for reflections and prayers); >
  • quarrel and swear (you need to avoid conflicts and negative emotions);
  • envy others, cherish pride or the same condemn people;
  • to marry or get married;
  • drink alcohol (except wine – in moderation on separate days);
  • indulge in bad habits and excesses. li>

One of the auxiliary components of the post in the church is the restriction on food. In view of this, believers during Lent are usually refrain from consumption:

  • meat;
  • milk;
  • oils;
  • other dairy products;
  • eggs;
  • fish (except for certain days);
  • other animal products.

Finally, believers may be advised to refrain from those things that can harm each individual personally, or to distract it from repentance (these can be gambling, using social networks, even intimate relationships). Recall that from September 1, 2023, the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (PCU) switched to the Novovolyan calendar, so all “intransitive” Holidays (with fixed dates) have shifted 13 days earlier. /P>
