Motherland this drink is considered China, today it is gaining more and more popularity in all corners of the planet, as it is one of the most useful. According to scientists, it is rich in powerful antioxidants and minerals that the body needs for proper functioning.
This is green tea. Its leaves can not only be brewed to make tea, but also crushed for cocktails or desserts. Some cooks add it to rice, pasta or roast dishes.
Green tea has always been considered good for health, but recently researchers have found that it lowers the level of “bad” cholesterol in the body. In the course of the scientific work, it was established that in the participants of the experiment, who consumed green tea every day, the total cholesterol in the blood fell by an average of 7.2 mg/dL, and “harmful” by 2.2 mg/dL.
According to experts, this effect is caused by catechin polyphenols, in particular epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). EGCG is considered a powerful antioxidant that can inhibit the growth of even cancer cells and prevent the formation of blood clots.
The main reason green tea is the best choice for a healthy diet is that it is minimally processed. Green tea leaves are steam-processed rather than fermented like black tea and oolong. In this way, the oxidation of EGCG is prevented, as a result of which the catechins become more concentrated.
Although green tea is not “prescribed” to reduce the level of “bad” cholesterol, the evidence of its effectiveness is clear. With regular consumption, green tea prevents heart disease and reduces the risk of premature death.
