Hair straightening products have been linked to the risk of uterine cancer

Hair straighteners can significantly increase the likelihood of uterine tumors. This happens with their frequent use, as US scientists found.

Approximately 1.64% of women who have never used hair straighteners develop uterine cancer by the age of 70. But the risk increases to more than 4% for those women who often turn to these funds for help.

However, as the researchers especially emphasize, it is worth remembering that uterine cancer itself is extremely a rare type of tumor.

However, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, uterine cancer is the most common type of gynecological malignancy in the country.

Its indicators are increasing. About 34,000 women aged 35 to 74 took part in the study. The observation period was 11 years, during which time cancer was detected in 378 women.

After taking into account other factors, the probability of developing uterine cancer was found to be more than twice as high in women who used hair straighteners for more than four years times a year.

Less frequent use of funds was associated with an increased risk of uterine cancer, but this difference was statistically significant, that is, it could have appeared by chance. Earlier, scientists proved that hair straighteners contain chemicals that destroy the endocrine system. And they are associated with an increased risk of breast and ovarian tumors.
