If the weather outside is not at all pleasant, this is a great opportunity to stay home and have a movie marathon that you have never been able to find time for. While watching movies, you always want to munch on something tasty. Classic “movie snacks” like popcorn or chips are, of course, ideal for such an occasion, but if you get carried away with them, there is a risk of gaining weight very quickly – and then all your efforts to prepare for the summer season will be in vain. We tell you what to replace harmful snacks with so that you can watch movies with pleasure and without harming your figure.
One of the tastiest and healthiest solutions is hummus. You can find a flavorful chickpea paste in a store or make it yourself – the second option is better, since store-bought hummus often contains a lot of sugar and harmful preservatives. Be sure to serve hummus with fresh vegetable strips – carrots, celery, and mini whole-grain bread croutons are especially good. Thanks to the high content of vegetable protein and healthy fatty acids, this food will keep you feeling full for a long time and will not harm your figure.
If your soul still asks for something more like popcorn, prepare a healthy alternative from the same chickpeas. To do this, you will need to fry chickpeas (canned or pre-soaked) in a drop of oil with the addition of your favorite spices. The result will be a fragrant, crispy snack, but without excess carbohydrates.
Another good option is nuts and seeds (it is better to choose pistachios, almonds and walnuts from nuts, and pumpkin seeds from seeds). This is a healthy snack, rich in vitamins, minerals, healthy fats and vegetable protein. However, you should not forget about their high calorie content: nuts are undoubtedly more useful than chips, but you should not get carried away with them either.
Fruits are ideal for lovers of sweets as a movie snack. You can make a salad from them, cut a nice fruit assortment or go further and make your own homemade ice cream sorbet. For this, you will need your favorite fruits and berries, a blender and a freezer – you can add lemon juice, cinnamon or nutmeg. Such a dessert does not contain added sugar and fats at all, and it is as pleasant to eat as a filling.
