Heating season: what Trypil TPP looks like now

Trypilskaya thermal power station in Kyiv region the day before of the beginning of the heating season in Ukraine is still in a ruined state, according to a video published by the Ukrainian editorial office of DW.
“We definitely won’t be able to restore all the capacities. And today we are already talking not only about the restoration process, we are already talking about practically reviving the power plant from scratch,” commented the CEO of “Centrenergo” Yevheniy Harkavy.
As journalists who found the destroyed engine room, inoperative turbines, and charred equipment at the Trypilska TPP indicate without giving details, the station is still “trying to launch at least some capacities.”
We will remind that the Trypil TPP, located near the city of Ukrainka, had a capacity of 1,825 MW and was the largest supplier of electricity for Kyiv, Kyiv, Zhytomyr and Cherkasy regions. Four of its power units operated on coal, two more on gas and fuel oil.
The station was destroyed as a result of an attack by the Russian Federation with missiles of the Kh-69 type on April 11, 2024. Prior to that, on March 22, 2024, the Zmiyiv TPP in the Kharkiv region was completely destroyed. Both have been damaged by Russian attacks before. In addition, on July 25, 2022, Russian troops occupied the Vuglehirska TPP in the Donetsk region. Thus, Centernergo lost all three of its thermal power plants.

The state-owned company both before and after the final shutdown of the Trypil TPP stated that its critical elements were 100% physically protected from falling missile fragments, indirect UAV attacks and other similar damage, but not from direct missile hits.
