A person's height can increase his chances of suffering from several of the most common diseases in adulthood. This included a link between height and an increased risk of peripheral neuropathy and circulatory disorders.
The neurologist said the results of the latest research are a “significant contribution to the understanding of how height is related to clinical conditions from an epidemiological perspective.” .
“There is a catalog of clinical conditions associated with genetically predisposed height. In other words, these are conditions under which height may be a risk factor or a protective factor, independent of other environmental conditions that may also affect height and health.”
Although tall height protected people from cardiovascular disease of vascular diseases such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and coronary heart disease found that atrial fibrillation (irregular heart rhythm) was higher in taller participants.
Taller patients were found to be more prone to to a greater risk of most non-cardiovascular diseases. This is especially true of peripheral neuropathy – damage to nerves outside the brain and spinal cord, especially in the extremities – and circulatory disorders affecting the veins.
