According to Amy Goodson, an American nutritionist and author of the book “The Sports Nutrition Guide”, one of the best ways to lower cholesterol after 50 is to include soluble fiber in your diet.
The specialist explained that fiber dissolves in water to form a gel-like material that is able to bind to cholesterol. The nutritionist notes that oats and everything made from oat flour should be included in the diet.
In addition, the expert included fruits, beans, seeds and nuts, such as almonds, in the list. The effect of fiber on lowering cholesterol levels has also been confirmed by research.
