Homemade granola: the best recipe for those who don't want to cook for a long time

We offer you a wonderful breakfast recipe that can be prepared a month in advance in just an hour: this is a delicious and healthy granola with orange and nuts.

Granola is one of the favorite types of breakfast, which is nice to treat yourself to on a special day. In winter, many of us need extra joys more than ever, and a delicious breakfast can be one of them. Buying granola in a store is not at all necessary – you can prepare a large batch at home and enjoy the morning treat for several weeks in a row, adding animal or plant milk and various yogurts to it.

We have a granola recipe in which the solo part is given to honey, and the addition will be notes of orange, nuts and other appetizing ingredients. Baking muesli with toppings will not be difficult. The preparation time is only 10 minutes. And the cooking itself will take half an hour. The main thing is to carefully monitor the process, let the granola brown, but not let it burn.

For a batch weighing 400-450 g you will need:

  • zest and juice of 1 orange
  • 1 teaspoon of orange extract (you can add 2 teaspoons if you want more flavor)
  • 120 g of butter
  • 100 g of honey
  • 200 g of oatmeal
  • 45 g of pumpkin seeds
  • 30 g golden flaxseeds
  • 20 g sesame seeds
  • 40 g skinned almonds
  • 30 g walnuts (coarsely chopped)
  • 30 g peeled pistachios
  • 20 g roasted hazelnuts
  • pinch of sea salt

You can change the proportion of nuts depending on your own preferences, but make sure that there are enough nuts and seeds. They will add not only taste to your breakfast, but also benefits, so they play an important role in your daily diet.

Preheat the oven to 150-170°C. Meanwhile, mix the dry ingredients (flakes, nuts, seeds) in a large bowl and mix.

Melt 120 g of butter. When it is completely melted, add honey, orange peel and orange juice. Stir the mixture well before adding the orange extract (your choice of one or two teaspoons).

Mix the butter-orange mixture thoroughly with the already mixed dry ingredients until the flakes and nuts are completely covered with butter and juice. Place the entire contents on a large baking sheet with a rim, making sure that the muesli mixture covers the bottom of the sheet in an even layer, so the granola will cook more evenly.

Place the sheet in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. After this time, remove it from the oven and mix the granola well, then return the sheet to the oven and bake the mixture for another 10 minutes. Then take the granola out again and mix it again, return it to the oven for the last five minutes and the granola is ready. During the cooking process, keep an eye on the granola so that it does not become too dark, otherwise the treat will be spoiled.

Remove the sheet from the oven and let the granola cool before serving it. It can be stored for up to one month in an airtight container, so pack your breakfast mix properly to enjoy it in the morning. Top the granola with milk, yogurt, or a smoothie if you don't mind the extra sugar. You can also serve it with fresh or frozen berries.
