How boredom is good for our body

Many of us go to social networks when we get bored. However, according to Big Think, this can worsen mental health. Instead, it is better to find a hobby, a new job, or something else that will help distract us.

Usually, boredom is perceived by people as something bad. However, this state also has advantages. For example, when a person gets very bored, they can start looking for a new hobby, review their life in general, etc.

But social networks can get in the way of boredom. They prevent a person from reaching this state of maximum boredom. That is why the causes of boredom are not eliminated.

This was proven by researchers from the University of Bath and Trinity College. In general, boredom is the opposite of the so-called flow state, when a person is completely focused on some activity and gets pleasure from it.

In addition, there are two types of boredom. These are deep and superficial boredom. Surface boredom arises due to a certain situation, and if nothing is done about it, it will lead to deep boredom, which is characterized by the presence of indifference to both oneself and the world.

Modern society prevents people from experiencing superficial boredom, scientists say. Therefore, it usually does not turn into deep boredom (in particular, social networks contribute to this). And thanks to deep boredom, a transition to serious changes in life is possible.
