How dangerous is an insufficient amount of water for the body
0
Doctors say that the amount of fluid needed per day depends on many factors – physical activity, body constitution and even weather conditions.
The norm for women is considered to be from 1 to 1.8 liters per day, and for men – from 1.3 to 2.2 liters.
If you don't replenish your water deficit, bad things can happen to your body.
Hunger without water
If you eat all day but can't get enough, you should think about whether you're drinking enough.
A dehydrated body can give you signals about hunger. You may want to eat something salty or starchy. The body does everything it can to retain fluid in the body.
So, if you suddenly feel the urge to eat something after a meal, don't open the fridge. You just need to wait a bit, quenching your hunger with a glass of water. Perhaps this will be more than enough.
Headache
There can be a hundred reasons for a headache. But one of them is that your body is dehydrated. To avoid discomfort and not swallow painkillers by the handful, drink enough water throughout the day, don't wait for the thirst to become even stronger.
If you already feel like drinking, it means that your body is already suffering greatly from a lack of fluid.
Hidden threat
Water is a key component in the process of ensuring normal digestion. It is water that helps food pass through the digestive tract. And if you don’t drink enough, your stool will be slower to pass, and going to the toilet can cause a lot of discomfort. Constant constipation can ultimately increase the risk of hemorrhoids.
Heatstroke
If the weather outside is too hot and the air is humid, or you simply forget to drink water during physical activity, you may experience cramps and other unpleasant symptoms of heat stroke:
– Weakness;
– Dry skin;
– High body temperature;
If heat stroke has already occurred, you should immediately drink as much clean water as possible, and then seek medical help.
Inability to concentrate
The human brain is 80% water, so even very modest dehydration can negatively affect your cognitive abilities and the ability to remember information. It will be harder for you to concentrate.
If dehydration is severe, more severe symptoms may also make themselves known. For example, confusion.
Rapid heart rate
At rest, the heart rate is not very fast. If the heartbeat becomes too fast, you may be dehydrated. If you drink little water, your heart is under double strain. To help your body, start your day with a glass of water.
