How dating apps are dangerous for mental health
0
Scientists from the University of Melbourne have found that eating disorders (EDs) are most common among users of dating apps.
Such disorders include, for example, anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, psychogenic overeating, etc. Most often, this is due to concerns about one's appearance.
Almost 700 people participated in the new study. They were surveyed and psychologically assessed for various traits associated with the occurrence of EDs. It was found that users of dating apps were more likely to report symptoms of the disorder than other people. It also became clear that if a person used apps to boost self-esteem, their likelihood of having a CSD was even higher.
