How is vitamin A good for the heart?

Studies on mice have shown that obesity in animals causes gene abnormalities. Moreover, a lack of vitamin A further exacerbates the situation.

A team of scientists from the Hannover Medical School in Germany has induced obesity in mice with vitamin A deficiency. After 20 weeks, the experts compared the heart condition and metabolism of obese mice with a lack of vitamin A, as well as obese mice with normal levels of vitamin A.

It turned out that mice with a deficiency of vitamin A had repression of genes in the heart that are associated with the extraction of energy from fat, the extraction of energy from glucose and the production of the molecule adenosine triphosphate. Therefore, it is better to prevent vitamin deficiency in obesity.
