How to cook carrots
Carrots have a sweet taste by nature. When boiled, it should not be too hard, but it should not be too soft either. The duration of cooking carrots is from 20 to 25 minutes. This time is enough for a medium-sized root crop to be ready. For large specimens, the time can be increased to 40 minutes.
When you cook the first dishes, you put the vegetables in the broth already chopped. Therefore, the cooking time should be reduced to 10-15 minutes.
Please note that a whole carrot is put in cold water and put on fire. Only chopped vegetables are thrown into boiling water to cook.
When should water be salted? At the end. The main period of cooking should take place without salt in plain water. Do not peel the carrots if you are cooking them whole. This way, more vitamins will remain in it.
The specified time intervals are suitable for the classic process of cooking in a pot with water. In a pressure cooker, young carrots can be cooked in 5 minutes, old carrots in 9 minutes, and chopped carrots in 3 minutes.
