How many minutes should be spent brushing teeth, scientists said

Many experts advise to brush your teeth two times a day, spending at least two minutes on cleaning. However, scientists have found that two minutes may not be enough for oral hygiene.
According to the results of a study published on the website of the US National Library of Medicine, brushing for a longer time removes more plaque from the enamel.< /p>
After brushing teeth for 180 seconds, it was possible to remove 55% more plaque than after brushing for 30 seconds. Brushing for 120 seconds removed 26% more plaque than brushing for 45 seconds.
However, it is emphasized that the use of toothpaste did not increase the amount of plaque removed during 60 seconds of brushing.
Researchers concluded that oral care professionals should persuade patients to spend more time brushing.
Increasing brushing time to the agreed minimum of 2 minutes from the usual 45 seconds, they believe, can remove the amount of dental plaque that can ensure clinically significant health of the oral cavity.
