Milk and dairy products significantly reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases, as well as premature death from other causes.
Doctors from the American McMaster University conducted a study that showed that milk and dairy products are very useful for middle-aged and older people – they help reduce the risk of premature death.
For ten years, scientists monitored the health of more than 136 thousand people over 35 years old. The subjects were divided into groups based on their consumption of dairy products – some practically did not consume them, others consumed them occasionally, others regularly, and the fourth group included milk lovers.
During the study, about 6.8 thousand people died from various causes, 8.5 thousand were diagnosed with cardiovascular diseases. As it turned out, among dairy lovers, the fewest were diagnosed and died.
The researchers concluded that three servings of dairy products per day reduce the risk of death from heart and vascular diseases by 3.2%, as well as the risk of death from other diseases by 2.2%. One serving is considered a glass of milk, yogurt, kefir, 15 grams of cheese or five grams of butter, as well as other products in equivalent amounts.
According to scientists, the secret of the benefits of milk is in its unique composition. Milk contains many specific amino acids, enzymes, proteins and fats. In addition, it contains a whole complex of vitamins and minerals that are easily absorbed.
