There are a number of vitamins that you must get to maintain your health. Among them is vitamin D. And it is one of the most important. Vitamin D enters the human body mainly from sunlight.
Jamal Ramsay, co-founder of nutrition experts Jrny, told how much time you need to spend in the sun to get enough vitamin D. In general, this can vary depending on several factors, including the time of day, skin type, and where you live.
According to Ramsay, it is recommended to warm your face, arms, legs, or back in the sun for 5-30 minutes two to three times a week.
At the same time, the specialist emphasized that even on cloudy days you can get a certain amount of vitamin D. However, it will still be produced less than on sunny, clear days.
According to the Vitamin D Council, on a clear day under direct sunlight, the skin can produce from 10,000 to 25,000 international units (IU) of vitamin D in 15-30 minutes of exposure to the sun. On a cloudy day, the skin is able to produce only 10% of this amount.
