The expert shared effective methods of heating an apartment in winter without heating. They don't cost much, but their effect is noticeable.
Given the gloomy predictions about possible Russian attacks on our critical infrastructure, which will lead to blackouts and problems with heating, we should already think about how we we will be heated in winter.
Blogger Cassie, who runs the blog “Frugal Family”, told us about five ways that will help you survive the winter in an apartment without heating.
When the temperature outside and in the house starts to drop, you should follow several important rules.
First of all, don't forget the importance of using natural heat. Cassie recommends keeping the curtains open to get more warmth from the sun's rays, but it's best to close them as soon as it starts to get dark outside. Make sure that your curtains are lined with a strong fabric that will retain heat.
It is important to detect drafts in the apartment in advance and get rid of them. Cassie notes that where cold air enters the house, warm air, on the contrary, leaves it. She offers some practical advice, such as using window sealant, duct tape to insulate certain areas and door stoppers.
Half an hour of physical training at home helps to generate heat, Cassie says. You can use online videos or, if available, equipment, including an exercise bike.
A great solution would be multilayering in clothes. This is a quick way to warm up without heating. Additional clothes not only help to keep warm, but also perfectly retain heat between themselves. It is especially important that the feet stay warm. Therefore, do not forget to buy warm knitted socks. Blankets, throws, and other similar items are optional.
Cassie also suggests spending more time upstairs if you live in a private home. Heat always rises up, so it is better to rest and even work in such rooms. Try moving your desk upstairs to make it warmer.
