The expert advises to prepare for a conversation with management about a salary increase.
“Analyze your recent achievements, write down your strengths and competencies. Analyze the situation on the labor market, what salaries are offered by employers today,” says Postavna.
She advises to justify the request for a raise with your achievements, competencies, etc. when talking to management.
What phrases can be used when talking to the management:
- my salary is very different from the market average
- I have more responsibilities
- I exceeded the plan by a few percent (operate with numbers and facts)
- I know how to make everything work even better
- I was offered a good position in another company (provide this argument only if it is really so)
What phrases should not be used:
- I learned a lot during my work

What is the average salary in Ukraine in 2024
This year, the average salary will increase to 21,809 hryvnias. Already in the first quarter, it increased by 22.5% and amounted to UAH 18,903.
At the same time, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the forecasted increase in average wages in Ukraine for the following years. In 2025, it will amount to 25,732 hryvnias, in 2026 – 30,260 hryvnias.
