How to check the quality of yeast so as not to spoil the baking

Yeast that can be used for kneading the dough, must first of all be fresh.

A quality product has a characteristic smell – the yeast has a pleasant aroma with a slightly noticeable acidity.

If you doubt the quality product, test the action of the yeast in advance by preparing a small portion of the dough.

When the dough is ready, it should be sprinkled with a layer of flour. After that, put the bowl with the steam in a warm place so that it rises. After 30 minutes, check the result.

If the flour is covered with cracks – everything is fine, the yeast is good and you can start kneading a large volume of dough.

If there are no cracks on the surface, this indicates poor quality product, such yeast is not suitable for baking.

However, you can make sure that the yeast is suitable even easier – put it in warm water and add a little sugar.

If after 20-30 minutes a lush “cap” – the yeast is actively working and you can put the dough on it.
