Homemade cheese is a natural and tasty cheese that is easy to prepare yourself. It is ideal for salads, snacks or as an independent dish. The best thing is that the process of its preparation is quite simple, and you can control the quality of all the ingredients.
Ingredients for making homemade cheese:
- 2 liters of milk (it is better to use homemade or farm)
- 200 ml of kefir or sour cream
- 1 tablespoon of salt
- 1 lemon (juice)
Use fat milk, because the taste and texture of cheese depends on it. The fatter the milk, the softer and more tender the cheese will be.
Pour the milk into a saucepan and bring it to a boil over medium heat. As soon as the milk begins to boil, reduce the heat.
Add kefir or sour cream and lemon juice to the milk. This will help coagulate the milk and turn it into cheese mass. After adding these ingredients, the mixture will begin to separate into whey and curd.
Cook for another 10-15 minutes, stirring constantly to avoid burning. Then strain the cheese mass through cheesecloth or a sieve.
Add salt and mix well. Tie cheesecloth with cheesecloth and leave for 2-3 hours for the whey to drain. After that, homemade cheese is ready. You can cut it into pieces and serve it to the table.
