How to have a picnic without harming your health

In May, some Ukrainians, no matter what, will go out into nature and start picnics. To prevent a pleasant pastime from being spoiled by poor health, experts in the field of public health and medical prevention have reminded us of the rules to follow while on vacation.

Recommendations for vacationers:

  • Use a cooler bag to store and transport perishable foods;
  • Avoid dairy products, eggs, and cream-based pastries at a picnic, as they easily harbor pathogenic bacteria;
  • Use different knives for raw and ready-made dishes;
  • Do not buy meat from unverified points of sale;
  • It is better to buy lean meat and season it generously with seasonings – red and black pepper, saffron, thyme, turmeric, and mustard have disinfecting properties;
  • Make sure that meat juice does not get into in other food, the finished kebab should be consumed immediately. Protect food from insects as well – use containers and film;
  • follow the rules of personal hygiene, wash your hands with soap before cooking and eating;
  • do not forget to wash vegetables and fruits;
  • do not overload the meal, prefer fresh greens and vegetables as a snack, generally try to observe moderation in eating;
  • it is advisable to refrain from alcohol;
  • arrange walks and choose outdoor games;
  • remember about tick prevention – this is closed clothing, use of repellents, examinations every half hour. If bitten, contact the emergency room so that specialists can remove the tick and take it for examination.
