How to help houseplants survive winter without stress

There is an opinion that indoor plants do not care what season it is. They grow in stable conditions and a created microclimate. Because of this, there is no need to worry about their stress resistance and needs in the winter period.
This is a misconception. Plants have a vegetative period and, regardless of the growing conditions, know at a natural level what and when they need for effective growth. Indoor flowers need to be supported in the winter period.
How to care for plants
First of all, you need to reduce watering. Daylight and light are getting shorter. Therefore, the requirements for the amount of water are also reduced. In winter, plants are watered rarely, but quite abundantly. Do not forget about heating devices, so check the condition of the soil.
If there is not enough light, provide the plant with an additional source. This can be a phytolamp, or place it closer to the window. This is especially true for plants that are unable to grow in dark corners of the room.
The temperature regime is also important. Make sure that the mark does not fall below 15 degrees. Overheating is also unnecessary, so monitor the indicators and condition of the plant.
Not all plants need feeding in winter, but such a need may arise. Do not abuse it, because in winter the plants are at rest. If everything is fine with the plant, postpone the application of fertilizers until spring. Violets, geraniums, money tree, spathiphyllum need feeding.
Pests and diseases have always been and are. Indoor conditions often encourage their development. Spider mites and aphids, root rot most often occur in winter, so inspect the plants regularly. If necessary, you can spray with soapy water or treat with “Fitosporin”.
