How to help the eyes when working for a long time at the computer

The first signs of eye fatigue with appear after 45 minutes of continuous computer work. However, the correct mode of work and rest, as well as the organization of the workplace, will help preserve vision.

According to an ophthalmologist, the harmful effect of gadgets is not only in reducing visual acuity. Along with this, other negative changes are taking place:

  • violation of the ability to focus on objects located at different distances;
  • reduction in the ability to see images clearly with both eyes at the same time;
  • violation of the protective properties of the lacrimal apparatus and eye mobility.

    In order to help the eyes, it is important to follow certain rules, according to the ophthalmologist.

    Mode of work and rest

    So that the eyes do not get tired from continuous work at the computer, the doctor recommends leaving the workplace for a short time every 40-45 minutes and doing special gymnastics. This complex must be repeated several times:

    • close your eyes firmly for 3-5 seconds, and then open them for the same time;
    • without turning your head, look up, down, to the right, to the left, and then up, down, diagonally;
    • fix your gaze on the nearest object for 3-4 seconds, then move your eyes to an object located a little further. Extend the chain remotely to 10 items and do everything in the reverse order;
    • put your fingertips on the whiskey, slightly squeezing them, blink 10 times quickly, close your eyes and take 2-3 deep breaths.

    Correct organization of the workplace

    In order for the eyes to be less tired while working at the computer, several points should be taken into account:

    • bright lighting of the workplace – the recommended power of a table lamp is 60-80 W;
    • < li>absence of direct sunlight in the working space (otherwise there are glares that blind the eyes);

    • correct posture at the table: perpendicular position of the spine in relation to the chair, both hands lie freely on the table, shoulders are in one line , the feet rest completely on the floor, the legs are bent at a right angle in the knee and hip joints, the back is pressed against the chair;
    • it is desirable to place the desk opposite the window, or with the left end facing it (if the person is left-handed, then right-handed) ;
    • the distance to the screen should be 60-70 cm. it is recommended to look at the screen at an angle of 10° from top to bottom.
