How to improve the condition of the intestines and why it is necessary: doctor's advice

Thanks to a healthy state of the intestines, the body more successfully fights inflammation and resists the appearance of excess weight, states the German doctor Mikaela Akst-Gadermann.
According to the expert, “good” and “bad” bacteria coexist in the intestines.
“Some intestinal microorganisms make us healthy and slim, and also counteract inflammatory processes. Others, on the contrary, can make them fat and sick,” says the doctor.
The specialist warns that the intestines remain healthy as long as the population of potentially pathogenic bacteria that seek to absorb beneficial microorganisms does not increase. In this case, there is a decrease in immune resources, since immunity depends on the balance of the intestinal microflora, a sufficient number of “good” bacteria in it, by about 70 percent. Such a decrease means the body is prone to infections and inflammation, and also increases the risk of obesity (especially in the abdominal area).
This is why it is important to maintain a healthy state of the intestines, says the doctor, also sharing tips on how to increase the activity of beneficial intestinal microflora.
It is necessary to eat a variety. The diet should include as diverse a range of healthy products as possible, emphasizes Mikaela Axt-Gadermann. Eating in this way, we “train” the microflora. Monotony in food, on the contrary, depresses it.
Less carbohydrates.Bifido and Akkermansia bacteria live in our intestines – when their populations are large enough, it protects against metabolic disorders and obesity. In order for these species to spread, the doctor advises eating according to the principle: less refined carbohydrates, more fiber and protein.
Eat two apples a day. According to Axt-Hadermann, this habit promotes the growth of bifidobacteria, the benefits of which are described above.
Rejection of fructose. Fresh fruits in the diet cannot be dispensed with, but products that contain a large amount it is better not to use added fructose, emphasizes the doctor. The specialist warns that such foods damage the intestinal barrier.
Eat foods with prebiotics. Their consumption creates a specific acidic environment that stimulates the growth of intestinal bacteria, important for weight loss and maintaining a healthy weight.
… as well as with probiotics. Such products already contain live bacteria that have a positive effect on the state of the intestinal microbiome.
Drink coffee without milk or cream. Such coffee creates an acidic environment in the intestines that protects against harmful bacteria and is extremely useful for strengthening the intestinal mucosa.
