How to live long: scientists told about the importance of vitamin D

A group of Norwegian researchers from the University of Bergen is convinced that vitamin D can prolong the lives of those suffering from cardiovascular diseases. They managed to find out how effective this trace element is in the fight against such diseases, and in what quantity it is boring to use the vitamin in order to feel the effect.
According to Professor Jutta Dirkes, professor of the Department of Clinical Medicine in Bergen and head of the project, too much vitamin D, as well as a small amount of it, can increase the risk of death from heart and vascular diseases.
To find out how much vitamin is needed to maintain health, scientists conducted an experiment with the participation of about 4 thousand .patients. It turned out that this substance has a beneficial effect only in the amount from 42 to 100 nmol/l. At values above or below this range, the risk of death increases.
However, researchers cannot name the universal amount of vitamin D for each person. “The optimal amount of vitamin D supplementation varies from person to person. It depends on where you live and what your diet is,” Dirkes explained.

You can't get the required amount of this trace element only from medicines. Here is a list of foods that contain natural vitamin D:

It is especially important to monitor the level of vitamin D for residents of northern countries, as this trace element is called the “sunshine vitamin”. With a constant lack of sunlight, a deficiency of this substance may appear.
