Cholesterol is necessary for the body to function properly, but its consistently high level can lead to clogging of arteries, which increases the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.
It is known that some foods can reduce the content of this substance in the blood. For example, it was recently discovered that an ordinary eggplant has a similar effect.
Scientists came to this conclusion in the course of a study published in the journal “Brazilian Society of Cardiology”. According to experts, eggplants are rich in vitamins B1 and B6, minerals and antioxidants.
Scientists conducted their experiment on rabbits. At first, the animals were kept on a “cholesterol” diet, and then one group was given 10 ml of eggplant juice every day for two weeks. As a result, it was found that the level of “bad” cholesterol in the blood of the rabbits that drank the juice significantly decreased.
