How to make cabbage moussaka

Cabbage is most often used for stuffed cabbage rolls and salads. Today we suggest you try a different way to prepare cabbage. It can make excellent moussaka. You don't need many ingredients, and you're guaranteed a delicious dinner.

What ingredients do you need for moussaka?

Prepare the following ingredients:

  • cabbage – 1 medium-sized head;
  • minced meat – 750 g;
  • onion – 1 pc.;
  • melted lard – 4 tbsp.;
  • breadcrumbs – 2 tbsp.;
  • sour cream – 4 tbsp.;
  • butter – 20 g;
  • salt;
  • ground black pepper to taste.

How to cook

In a frying pan in melted lard, fry the chopped onion together with the minced meat. Add salt and pepper to your taste.

Now you need to deal with the cabbage. Separate the leaves and pour boiling water over them. Let the water drain.

Take a shallow dish (a small saucepan). Grease the walls and bottom with melted lard and put one layer of cabbage leaves. Put the minced meat on top, but divide it into 2-3 parts. That is, the cabbage leaves and minced meat should be layered until the ingredients run out. The last layer should be cabbage, because it needs to be sprinkled with breadcrumbs on top.

Put butter and melted lard in pieces on the moussaka, and then pour sour cream with a small amount of salt. Send the moussaka to the oven for 40 minutes over medium heat. Watch that the cabbage is cooked. Before serving, it should be turned from the pan to a plate. Delicious!
