How to make mojito-flavored pear compote

If you want to surprise your guests in a cold something unusual at this time of year, pear compote for the winter is a delicious idea. But what if you add a touch of mojito to it? The refreshing taste of mint and lemon is perfectly combined with the sweetness of pears, creating a drink that resembles your favorite cocktail, only non-alcoholic.

To prepare the compote, you will need:

  • 1 kg of pears
  • 1 lemon
  • 2-3 sprigs of mint
  • 200 g of sugar
  • 2 liters of water

Choose pears of medium ripeness – they hold their shape better during cooking and do not boil. Such varieties as “Conference” or “Limonka” are ideal.

First peel the pears, cut them into halves or quarters and remove the core.

Cut the lemon into thin rings, and rinse the mint under cold water.

Pour water into a large saucepan, add sugar and bring to a boil. Dip the pears and lemon into the syrup and cook over medium heat for 10 minutes.

Add the mint sprigs and cook for another 5 minutes.

Pour the compote into sterilized jars, close the lids and let it cool.

Compote with pears and notes of mojito can be stored all winter and served chilled or warmed.
