How to marinate mackerel before baking

Do you want your mackerel to have a delicate texture, rich taste and aroma, like in a restaurant? The whole secret is in the right marinade, which will turn ordinary fish into a culinary masterpiece. A few simple ingredients – and your guests will definitely ask for the recipe!

Ingredients for the marinade:

  • mackerel (fresh or frozen) – 2 pcs.;
  • lemon – 1 pc.;
  • olive oil – 3 tbsp. l.;
  • soy sauce – 2 tbsp. l.;
  • garlic – 2 cloves;
  • salt, pepper, spices (paprika, oregano) – to taste.

Wash the mackerel, remove the entrails and dry slightly. For better impregnation, you can make small incisions on the carcass.

In a bowl, mix olive oil, soy sauce, lemon juice, chopped garlic and spices. If you like a richer aroma, add a little fresh thyme or dill.

Grease the fish with the marinade on all sides and inside. Leave it in the refrigerator for 30-40 minutes. The longer the mackerel marinates, the juicier and more aromatic it will be.

Before baking, add a few slices of lemon and onion in the middle for additional aroma. Bake the mackerel in foil at 180°C for about 20-25 minutes. 5 minutes before the end, unfold the foil to get an appetizing crust.

Serve the marinated mackerel with vegetables or salad. The taste will be so rich that even those who don't like fish will want more!
