How to pickle herring with lemon

Did you know that one simple ingredient can completely change the taste of your usual herring? Adding lemon not only refreshes, but also makes the fish softer and more aromatic. Herring with lemon is a great alternative to regular salted herring, which will conquer you with its lightness and flavor play.
Ingredients:
- 2 fresh herrings
- 1 large lemon
- 1 onion
- 50 ml of vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- Salt, pepper to taste
- Bay leaf and allspice (optional)
Peel the herring, remove the bones and cut the fillet into small pieces. Cut the lemon into thin slices, and the onion into half rings. Mix the herring, lemon and onion in a deep bowl. Add sugar, salt, pepper and other spices to taste. Pour the oil over the herring, mix and leave in the refrigerator for 4-5 hours.
