The second most popular tree after the apple is, of course, the pear. Sweet and honeyed fruits will not leave anyone indifferent. To maintain the yield potential for the following year, the tree must be prepared for the cold period. Pear is quite demanding in terms of care.
Autumn care scheme
In autumn, the tree is fed after sanitary pruning. Do not leave fallen leaves around the tree. Collect it, because it may contain spores of diseases and pests that will gladly remain for the winter. As a preventive measure, the trunk is whitewashed and treated against insects and fungal diseases.
Pear responds well to the application of humus, manure, compost or peat. Organic fertilizers significantly help to cover nutrient deficiencies.
Mineral fertilizers are also needed in autumn. It can be ammonium sulfate, urea, superphosphate, potassium sulfate, potassium nitrate. Depending on the selected fertilizers, it can be applied both in liquid and dry form.
The standard scheme is as follows. First, 6 kg of humus per 1 sq.m. is applied to the stem circle. 300 g of wood ash and 40 g of superphosphate should be added to the complex. Everything is dug up with soil. In this way, the tree will be ready for winter.
