You need to start with the fact that clematis are pruned in autumn, but not all varieties need to be pruned. Therefore, check with the one you have planted. Autumn pruning is done only on those clematis that bloom on the shoots of the current year.
It is recommended to cover clematis with containers or pots, a box. In particular, sprinkle with sawdust. It is necessary to protect the root system and stems from frost. The remains of leaves should be cleaned from clematis. Everything under the plant should also be cleaned. Weak and damaged vines are cut off.
It is recommended to cover clematis at a temperature of 0 degrees. The maximum is +5. If it is warmer, condensation will form under the shelter. Do not use polyethylene. Either as described above, or cover with spruce branches, burlap, dry leaves.
Working with daylilies
When the flowers of daylilies dry up, they are cut off immediately. In the fall, the already dry leaves will need to be cut again. For daylilies, straw, dry grass, spruce branches are used. The rhizome can be sprinkled with peat. Polyethylene for daylilies is also not used. All sheltering work is carried out at the first frost.
