A new study conducted by Edith Cowan University has shown that the negative health effects of potatoes may be linked to the way they are cooked. Although this product does not have the same benefits as some other vegetables.
After analyzing information from more than 54 thousand people, it turned out that people who eat the most vegetables are 21% less likely to develop type 2 diabetes.
Although potatoes do not have this effect, they actually do not have a negative impact on health, scientists say.
The study found that boiled potatoes were not associated with the risk of developing diabetes, unlike french fries, mashed potatoes and potato chips.
In addition, participants in this study who ate more potatoes also consumed more red meat, oil, and carbonated drinks.
These foods are known to increase the risk of type 2 diabetes.
