How to properly prepare rice for sushi and rolls

How successful your sushi or rolls will be depends on how well you prepare the rice. If you are cooking for the first time, then a recipe from professional Japanese masters will come in handy.

Ingredients

You will need the following products for cooking:

  • rice – 100 g;
  • rice vinegar – 500 ml;
  • mirin – 40 ml;
  • sugar – 100 g;
  • lemon – ΒΌ pc.

How to cook

Boil the rice until cooked. Before that, it must be rinsed 7 times. Pour water over the rice in a ratio of 1 to 1. Cover and bring to a boil. Do not remove the lid and reduce the heat. Leave for 12 minutes. Then turn off the heat and leave on the stove for 15 minutes. Then the rice needs to be mixed. After that, it is left for another 5 minutes under the lid.

Transfer the finished rice to a wooden container.

Now the rice can be seasoned. Mix together the ingredients listed. Pour into warm rice, mix. When the rice has cooled, it can be used for sushi. Delicious!
