How to “protect” potatoes before hilling
0
At this stage of the growing season, it is important to carry out competent fertilizing in order to create the basis for an excellent harvest and protect potatoes from pests. Early varieties are not treated with insecticides, because at the time of harvest, harmful substances will still be in the potatoes. Therefore, many summer residents resort to folk remedies, which are both safer, easier to perform, and effective.
Against aphids and late blight
An infusion of nettle is effective against aphids and late blight. It is made from fresh nettle, which is infused for 3-4 days. Sample dosage: 500 g of crushed plant per bucket of water.
Against wireworm
A weak solution of copper sulfate (100 g per bucket of water) helps to combat this pest. Spray immediately after rain or watering. This is necessary in order not to burn the leaves.
Against bear
A crushed eggshell treated with oil will stop the bear. The edible trap is fried to increase its attractiveness to the pest.
Against Colorado potato beetle
Against this pest, the following remedy is made: 200 g of crushed wormwood and ½ cup of wood ash are mixed in a bucket of water.
