How to “save” salt from moisture using rice

The container with salt should be stored in a dry place. However, it is not always possible to adhere to this condition. Often the salt shaker is in a closet where the air is humid. As a result, the salt compacts and loses its flowability. Such salt is said to be “stagnant.”

If this happens, you do not need to immediately throw the product in the trash. You can even save very stale and petrified salt by using one trick.

What to put in a salt shaker

You need to use a product that will quickly absorb excess moisture and at the same time not spoil the salt in any way.

A popular product like rice does an excellent job of this task. So, you need to pour a little raw rice cereal into the salt shaker.

The excess water will disappear quite quickly. The salt will no longer be too hard. It will turn into a crumbly product again, thanks to which it can be used in cooking again.

The rice that the cook puts in the salt shaker to remove excess moisture is absolutely safe for salt.
