How to store bananas so they do not blacken: simple lifehacks
0
Bananas are usually imported to Ukraine and other countries unripe. In stores they create special storage conditions that prevent early spoilage. But very often in a couple of days they turn black. In order to understand whether you can somehow slow down this process, you need to know why it is happening and which bananas are better to buy. It is better to eat a yellow fruit with a greenish stem during the first day after purchase. But a banana with a green skin, if it is properly transported and stored, can naturally mature at home. However, if there are dark spots on the skin, the fruit will not be stored for a long time. It is better to give up such bananas or eat them immediately until they start black.
How to store bananas at home so that they do not blacken
there are a number of simple rules to follow:
- Avoid plastic bags, as they accumulate condensate, which leads to acceleration of spoilage and decay of fruits. It is better to store bananas open or in a paper bag. A wooden box or cardboard box will be a good option;
- keep bananas as far away from ripe or reached fruits – apples, pears. They secrete ethylene that promotes the ripening of bananas – and they will start to darken very quickly;
- It is also important to avoid direct sunlight, otherwise bananas quickly blacke Bananas away from heat sources;
- It is not recommended to keep bananas in the refrigerator, as their appearance from low temperatures will also suffer. If there is such a need, it is advisable to choose the most “warm” place, for example, on the door or the bottom shelf.
