How to take medication so that it works?

The effect of the drug largely depends on how we take it. We will talk about the main principles.

Instructions are important

No, really, read the instructions. Doctors and pharmacists can tell a lot of stories about how patients swallow rectal suppositories. Or, conversely, insert a remedy into the rectum that needs to be taken orally.

And even if you know for sure that the medicine should just be drunk, take another look at the method of application: there are several nuances here. It says: “chewable tablet” – chew, “put under the tongue” – put and so on with all the recommendations of the instructions. If nothing is written, then swallow it whole, washing it down with water.

Follow the intervals

If you need to take a tablet several times a day, do it hourly:

  • If the medicine is prescribed to be taken 2 times a day, the interval between doses will be 12 hours (for example, at 10 am and 10 pm);
  • If 3 times – 8 hours;
  • If 4 times – 6 hours.

When the doctor prescribes taking the medicine once a day, you need to take the drug every day at the same time.
