How to understand that the chest pain that has arisen is dangerous

Chest pain can be associated with cardiovascular diseases, but it does not always indicate something serious and life-threatening.

Even if the chest pain that has arisen is felt as severe, it can be caused by conditions that do not pose a serious threat to a person. In particular, this can occur due to stress, anxiety, and mild neurological disorders.

How do you know if chest pain is dangerous for a person?

Duration. Persistent severe pain is a reason to see a doctor. They recommend seeking help if the pain lasts more than five minutes.

Symptoms. If chest pain is caused by serious problems, you may also experience:

  • Shortness of breath.
  • Cold sweat.

Chest pain on the right side. It is often caused by lung problems – for example, it occurs with pneumonia or other lung infections, asthma attacks.

Esophageal spasms. There is a disorder in which abnormal contractions of the esophagus occur – a person feels a sudden severe pain in the chest, lasting from several minutes to an hour. Such pain can easily be mistaken for angina.
