Bananas are part of the diet of many of us. But we usually throw away the peel from the fruit. And it's good if it's in the compost heap, not in the trash. And they contain numerous macro- and microelements that help improve the mineral nutrition of green plantings.
If roses grow on the site, try fertilizing them with banana peelings. And at the same time reduce the amount of garbage, disposing of it with the benefit of the environment.
How to properly prepare nutritional supplements from bananas for perennial plantings
Cut the peel from six fruits into small fractions, place them in a liter jar, fill with water, cover with a nylon lid and place in a warm and dark place for 4 days.
Carefully strain the infusion and pour it into a bucket of settled or sun-heated water (0.6-0.7 l of mother liquor concentrate per 10-12 l of water).
Spill the working solution over the roses at the rate of 5 l per bush. Do not be surprised by the unpleasant smell of feeding. This is a consequence of the decomposition processes of organic matter.
Fertilizer should be applied to moist soil, that is, after scheduled watering or rain and subsequent loosening of the soil.
What to do with the raw materials left after the planting
Dig a shallow groove around the bush along the outer diameter of the receiver circle. And then evenly distribute the pieces of half-decomposed bark on the bottom of the groove and cover it with earth.
In just a few days, soil microorganisms and earthworms will begin to actively process the organic matter, turning the material into full-fledged nutrients for the roots of seedlings. To store moisture in the soil, you can additionally mulch the surface under the bushes with straw, hay or compost.
Banana peel fertilizers can be used throughout the entire growing season of roses. The interval between top dressing is 2-3 weeks.
If you do not have enough raw materials, then add a nutrient solution and banana slices to the soil alternately under each plant.
And for caring owners, we recommend harvesting banana peels during the winter, drying the peelings on a battery and storing the material in paper bags.
They can also be used in the preparation of top dressing. For each liter of mother liquor, you will need a handful of dry peelings broken in your hands.
In addition to roses, banana peel infusion can be used to feed any ornamental crops on your plot, as well as indoor flowers, seedlings, vegetables (cucumbers, tomatoes, garlic, leafy greens) and garden strawberries.
According to experts, the use of banana peels during spring and summer contributes to the long and lush flowering of rose bushes several times per season!
Beauty to you in the garden and on the house territory!
