Many people who abuse coffee drinks throw away coffee and don't even think about what they can do with it. However, there are several useful ways to use coffee grounds in gardening.

After heat treatment, useful minerals such as phosphorus, potassium and nitrogen remain in the coffee grounds. All of these substances are very useful and can be an excellent fertilizer for plants. There are two main ways to use coffee grounds.
- The first is to mix the coffee grounds with soil (preferably in a one-to-one ratio), after which such soil will automatically become more useful for the plant planted in it.
- The second method is quite simple to implement. You can pour the remaining coffee grounds directly onto the flowerbed, they will be absorbed by themselves and enrich the soil with useful substances.
Important: the coffee used in such procedures should not be too thick. Otherwise, it can create a “cork” that will block the access of air to the soil, and the plant may wither.
Coffee grounds are also very effective in helping plants such as hydrangeas and roses. However, the effect is not felt immediately, and this can cause difficulties. But with frequent moderate fertilization of these plants with coffee grounds, when the flowering period comes, it will be much easier and a little faster.
Coffee grounds will also help Trojans and hydrangeas stay healthy and tolerate some diseases more easily.
Coffee grounds can scare away harmful insects, including flies, slugs, ants and snails.
The only drawback of coffee grounds, according to some people, is that it attracts earthworms. However, this is not as bad as it might seem at first glance. If a person has a worm farm in the garden, this can even be considered a plus.
The remains of coffee grounds after fertilizing plants can be given to worms as food. But it is worth knowing the measure – no more than one cup of coffee grounds per week. Otherwise, the soil may become too oxidized for the worms and they will start to feel worse.
Another advantage of coffee grounds is its antimicrobial properties. If you regularly fertilize plants with it, you can protect them from some serious diseases, such as fungus.
An excellent property of coffee grounds is also considered to be their intolerance to cats. If the plants are fed with coffee grounds, cats will stop going to the toilet right in the beds.
A good way to use coffee grounds is to add them to compost. A compost pile with coffee grounds in it will have a better effect on the characteristics of the plants. If you dilute the coffee grounds with a small amount of water, you can also use it to water the garden or lawn.
