In Kyiv, they announced the start of the “Mental Guard” project in educational institutions: what is the solution?
A new project to create emergency groups will be launched in the capital mental support in “Mentalna Varta” educational institutions. It is implemented within the framework of the Bloomberg Philanthropies project.
What is the problem?
According to the director of the Department of Education and Science of the KMDA Olena Fidanyan:
“Children during the war become especially vulnerable to psychological injuries”. ”. It provides for the creation of rapid psychological support groups that will quickly arrive at schools in case of conflicts or emergency situations.
“Within the scope of this initiative, it is planned to create special groups of rapid psychological response, which will quickly go to places where participants of the educational process will need psychological help in connection with emergency situations, such as missile attacks, suicides, bullying, etc.,” the message reads.
Thanks to the analyzed data and identification of needs, a unique IT service will be developed, which will ensure the maximum effectiveness of the psychological support program. As a result, the program will have the maximum impact on the lives of the participants of the educational process.
Currently, more than 50 trainings have been held among teachers and psychologists, during which quick response teams were selected and trained.< /p>
The trainings are held in order to train the staff to provide prompt psychological support in case of crisis situations in educational institutions.
The goal of the project is to provide quick psychological assistance to students, their parents, teachers and administrations schools in crisis situations.
The project will operate within the unique Kyiv psychological protocol, which takes into account the specifics of Ukrainian realities and the needs of all participants in the educational process.
“With this project, we aim to improve the psychological safety of students and all participants in the educational process and contribute to the creation of a sustainable support mechanism in educational institutions”, – noted Deputy Chairman of the KMDA Valentyn Mondryivskyi.
Response groups will help them cope with the trauma, get the necessary psychological support and restoring the emotional state.
In addition, thanks to the “Mentalna Varta” project, it will be possible to reduce the level of psychological stressin children, their parents and educators, to increase resistance to stress and to create a safe and comfortable environment in educational institutions.
As noted in the KMDA, international experience and world practices of providing psychological assistance in crisis situations, multiplied by Kyiv expertise response during the war, became the key to the development of effective protocols and methods of work of rapid response groups.
According to the results, created a unique Kyiv protocol, which regulates the activities of rapid response groups and defines standards for providing psychological help in the educational environment.
