Too long daytime sleep scientists consider sleep wrong and associate this habit with an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases.
Some studies in recent years have begun to show that daytime sleep can increase the risk of certain health problems. In particular, there is evidence that daytime sleep can affect the cardiovascular system. Scientists from Japan came to the conclusion that “sleeping too long during the day can increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases by 82 percent”. The researchers concluded that daytime sleep that lasts longer than an hour is dangerous for the health of the cardiovascular system. In addition, their calculations show that improper daytime rest, in addition to heart problems, contributes to the development of diabetes – “the risk of developing diabetes increases by 46 percent if the daytime sleep lasts more than an hour.”
Scientists note, that sleep is an important component of a person's lifestyle, and it is daytime sleep that can have both positive and negative effects on the general state of health – but for some reason, this is still not completely clear. A recent study conducted by the American Heart Association (AHA) found that people (ages 40 to 69) who regularly nap during the day have a 24 percent increased risk of stroke.
With this trend in mind, experts they advise not to sleep long during the day. In case of increased drowsiness, you should consult a doctor.
