Incorrect sleeping position leads to dementia

Somnologist Narwan Amini said that the wrong position for sleeping causes dementia. According to him, the disease causes cognitive decline and memory problems.
Dementia can be caused by age and genetics, as well as a healthy lifestyle, including diet, exercise and sleep. Amini reported that during sleep, a person adopts positions that affect the state of the nervous system.
“We were able to find that sleeping on the side is the most useful for the normal functioning of the human brain. With the help of this position, the brain clears interstitial waste faster. In this way, a person receives a large number of advantages, including a reduced risk of neurological diseases, in particular, Parkinson's disease or Alzheimer's disease,” said the specialist.
The somnologist reported that additional research is needed to confirm this theory. According to her, the most unrecommended position is the position on the stomach. As a result, there are painful sensations in the back and neck, stiffness of joints and muscles.
