Insomnia: products that “can prevent you from falling asleep” – doctor

Nutritionists and sleep experts have conducted various studies trying to find the best sleep products. While this research provides important clues, it is not definitive.

People should avoid high-fat cheeses, chicken wings, or deep-fried fish because “they take longer to digest and may keep you awake.”< /p>

You should avoid heavy meals and spicy foods right before bed as this can lead to discomfort and upset stomach. This causes a change in body temperature that can confuse the brain because body temperature naturally drops as sleep approaches.

“Eat less processed carbohydrates (bread, pasta and rice), which cause energy crashes, and fat food, as stimulation of acid production in the stomach can lead to heartburn and indigestion. Remember that excess food causes drowsiness,” says nutritionist Igor Strokov. “Even if you know you should avoid coffee and strong tea, you may be sabotaging your sleep with more hidden sources of caffeine, like chocolate.”

Everyone needs different amounts of sleep. On average, adults need from 7 to 9 hours, and children – from 9 to 13 hours. Toddlers and infants need 12 to 17 hours of sleep each day.

There is no right amount of sleep that everyone should get. Sleep is a natural process that is not under our control. Our bodies take what they need. In the short term, our body will change the type and quality of sleep to keep us healthy.
