Instagram seriously undermines self-confidence

Research has shown that the more time people spend on social networks, the more they struggle with their own physique. At the same time, posts from friends and relatives are more dangerous than from celebrities.
Instagram is often criticized for the fact that this social network popularizes unrealistic and unattainable body ideals. Quite often, all kinds of influencers post pictures of their own bodies that have undergone computer retouching, which their numerous followers simply do not know.
But they begin to have complexes about their own bodies, trying to achieve the same proportions, and fall into even more depression because it doesn't work out. A new study shows that our loved ones are more to blame for this than various celebrities.
During experiments, participants reported their level of satisfaction with their appearance every time they read other people's messages on social networks throughout the day. Posts from friends and family were found to be far more harmful in this regard than content uploaded by influencers.
It's possible that a celebrity's dream body is perceived as less attainable, which is why we're concerned about it. less than in the case when we observe the ideal proportions of our friends or relatives.
The study was conducted by scientists from the Ruskin University of England together with Austrian colleagues. It once again shows that the use of social networks has an extremely negative effect on a person's perception of his own body, which threatens all kinds of problems.
