Intermittent fasting is the best way to lose excess weight

Norwegian researchers have proven that the so-called intermittent diet, beloved by celebrities, is twice as effective in losing excess weight than other diets. At the same time, it must be combined with a high level of physical activity.

The so-called interval fasting involves limiting the time of eating, which must be combined with intense physical activity. It helps women lose twice as much weight, as shown by a study by scientists from Norway, who involved 131 women aged 19 to 45 in experiments. A quarter practiced exactly the intermittent diet, a quarter followed high-intensity interval training, a quarter combined both, and the rest of the women were on their usual diet and level of physical activity.

It is the first type of diet, that is, the same intermittent diet in combination with intense training allowed to lose twice as much excess weight compared to all other approaches. Thus, compared to the control group, the participants of the first regimen lost 2.1 kg in 7 weeks. With high-intensity walking and running, this figure was 1.7 kg. But if the woman combined intermittent fasting and intense exercise, she lost 3.6 kg.

Eating for a shorter period means that people reduce the number of calories they consume. However, physical activity is also important because it helps the body burn fat more efficiently, as scientists at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology found.
