Both trees prefer loose soil with a neutral level of acidity. Cherry and plum are light-loving, so they grow poorly if there is a shading factor nearby.

The most important condition for this union is the root system. They do not compete for soil resources, the soil is depleted slowly.

The proximity of crops does not affect the yield, but there is a significant minus. Both trees are prone to almost the same diseases, and are also attacked by the same pests. This means that if the cherry is sick, the plum will also become infected, and vice versa.
