Doctors from Great Britain conducted a study during which they found out how compliance with oral hygiene affects life expectancy.
Researchers conducted a survey and collected information and blood samples of almost 12 thousand people. During an eight-year study, they found that neglecting oral hygiene increases the likelihood of death from cardiovascular diseases.
“Poor oral hygiene is associated with a higher risk of cardiovascular disease and inflammation of a weak degree, although the causal nature of this relationship has not yet been determined”, – say the authors of the work.
In this regard, the researchers recommend brushing your teeth for at least two minutes in the morning and in the evening. According to them, such a measure will avoid not only dental problems, but will also have a beneficial effect on health in general.
